ALBEROBELLO

The origins of the city of the trullis go up again to the second half the XVI century, when, a small feud under the dominion of the Acquavivas, started to become populated by farmers. The feudatory authorized the farmers to build residences in dry walls,  so they could be demolished them in case of regal inspection, since the birth of an urban agglomeration demanded the payment of the tribute according to the pragmatic de baronibus and with this astute proposal the heavy tax was avoided. Besides, particularly ancient trullis do not exist in how much, for economical reasons, it was preferred to demolish and to reconstruct them with the same materials than to handle the reparation of them in case of disarrangement. Alberobello is situated on two necks. On the oriental hill is the modern city, on the western there is the ancient city formed by an urban agglomeration divided in two neighbourhoods in which the trullis are lined up: Mountains and small Aia, both national monuments and from December 1996 recognized dall' UNESCO as World Heritage.
